Cycorder - no need I have a 3GS with video - works great !
sbsettings - no real reason to change anything as its working fine
yourtube - no interest
tethering - already can do on 3.0

Hmm - still cant find a reason to jailbreak my factory unlocked iPhone 3GS other than the inane reason to say - I have a jailbroken iPhone !!!

So its not for me.

When you get to the "Waiting for reboot" screen and if it sticks there unplug your iphone from the computer then plug it back in. I don't know why but for some reason it seems to work after that.

I also have an officaly unlocked 3GS. The reason for jailbreak is all the free appz from appstore, like Navigon!

You dont need to jailbrake to access the app's from the App Store. Just the Cydia ones.

i have a factory unlocked iphone 3g.
basically i need to jailbreak it so i can use format fix and caller id fix, since i live in lebanon.

do you have a link for the iclarified tutorial? in case i want to update my iphone, i wont have a problem with the unlock in the future?

This applies if you bought your iPhone 3G for $$$$$$$. This model of iPhone 3G doesn’t have an Service Provider lock (aka factory unlocked) and you are able to put any SIM card into the phone and get service. Your phone is already unlocked so you do not need to worry about baseband updates, simply upgrade to 3.0 using iTunes and then use PwnageTool to create an ipsw and then use this to jailbreak your phone.

i dont know what to do, using the ipsw would mean reinstalling the 3.0 and jailbreaking and unlocking right?

No problems you can perform jailbreaking... factory unlocked means -' you dont require carrier unlock' - (where ultrasn0w comes in to picture)'

I personally like the jailbreak for the 3G Unrestrictor. That app alone is worth it for JB.

So its not for me.

ibluetooth is for send recieve files not to use another headset.. otherwise there wouldent be any point to use it. apple are stupid and cripple the bluetooth

i can ssh into my iphone and change ring tones easily and with winterboard i can change the look of my phone and change sms tones and have a theme which for some stupid reason apple dont allow i mean what do apple care if i want my own theme or to change the look and the tones..

vlc player from zodttd and snes and nes amulators. for me iphone is not official in my country so ID caller in cydia fixes a caller Id problem.

terminal which is very handy. app store apps are very good but as long as apple restrict the phone so much jailbreak will always be a must.. makes no difference if its factory unlocked or not.. mine is factory unlocked 32GB black and i cant wait for the new 3.1 jailbreak it just means i dont have to wait for an unlock. and your right cycorder is no longer needed as 3gs has video recording with video editing.. but also for me swirlymms is still needed even though the phone has mms my carrier does not accept mms from iphone still.

to many reasons to jailbreak still.. i think the phone is not very good without jailbreak. maybe the next iphone they will enable it and take away the need to jailbreak and allow any app in app store.

sbsettings is very uslesful for those who want to disable things like that annoying slider when you try wright a text. or otherthings that people find usefull.
