    Default madddd :(((

Ok I am going to come out and say this....Winpawn or at least the lastest beta is crappp...yes I know its free...I know certain peeps been working hard on it but the process of getting the iPhone "just jailbreaked" is a pain in the butt and dont even get me started on the unlocking process for 2G iPhones. Why even release it if it doesnt even function right? BETA or not it flatout sucks! Its just crap. I thought I had finally created the "dream" custom firmware and it worked on 5 iPhones but today....iTunes keep throwing those stupid Error 6, Error 1 and Error 1600. It will restore to the factory 2.0.2 firmware but my custom firmware doesnt work, so I try building it again....i tried 8 different custom firmwares already...each with a unique set of activated/non active settings etc....nothing works, get those damn errors, tried DFU mode, Restore mode...whatever mode u can think of...nothing. Still errors. If anybody has a working custom 2.0.2 firmware for a 3G iphone please PM me or let me know. Thanks!!

I am using a custom 2.0.2 firmware on my 3G phone right now. Will hold off on 2.1 upgrade until Pwntool can accept it and keep my baseband at the original v01.45.00.

Can you give us more details? Specifically:
CURRENT firmware of your 3G phone (upgrading from what?)
has it been successfully Pwn'd before?
    which version of iTunes?
    Which OS?

I found some issues doing it when plugged into a rather cheapo USB hub but directly into the PC was fine. FYI.

If the firmware worked on 5 phones, then IT is probably fine - in which case WinPwn did it's job. Seems that investigating other possibilities might be more fruitful?

Did you use iTunes 7.7.1 on the ones that are working and now iTunes 8? If so, use Quickpwn first on the iPhone, after pwnaged and jailbroken use iTunes to restore to the custom firmware. Use simple restore mode NOT DFU.

Iam running a lappy with a triple boot system. I have a xp with 7.7.1 itunes and a vista running itunes 8 and they are both useless for some reason. Can someone explain all the different modes I think thats where I get things confused.

Restore mode is when hold home+sleep/wake for 10 seconds then let go of the sleep/wake right?

DFU is when the iPhone is off, I hold home button pressed and connect the usb cable?
