iPhone 3G GRAYED WIFI (NO WIFI)

:) i suggest you to do a full restore and go straight to apple and exchange for the new one. Remember, don't mention about "jailbreak or by pass" <<<if they hear those world they'll reject your request right away. They'll exchange your phone and your charger w/o any question. Good luck.

i have the same probelm and i tried more time to reinstall the new software but the same the problem so what i doing can any one help us what we doing ..

Only repair with replace Wifi chip:)

I have a theory that apple is doing this on purpose.
When you change your coms board. Apples looses the ability to turn it off.
Now remember this is just a theory of mine.

To combat this my other theory is.
a. Use the lowest version of itunes you can get away with never the latest.
b. When your doing your quick pawn / pawnage etc. disconnect from the internet. And after your done delete any logs / files stored on your PC that Itunes sucks off your phone to send to apple.

It would also help if you posted all your phone info. i.e. firmware pawnage s/w used. Before yellow snow after yellow snow and version of Yellow snow.

Ps: once its gone it very rarely comes back. Unless you have a specific s/w like swifi to address the issue. Swifi is the only tool that has brought back wifi for a few 2G users.

I had the same problem with my 2G phone. After trying all the possible solution , I ended up changing the comm-board and .............. voila', problem solved.

greyed out wifi has everything in the world to do with iphone nvram, which is totally software problem!!!!
I CANT BELIEVE YOU ARE TELLING PPL TO BUY NEW COMM BOARDS!!!!!!
Have you ever heard of swifi (for that 2g you bought a new comm board for...............)

swifi not always fixes no WiFi problems in 2G iphone.
Sometimes the marvell w8686 gets fried and doesn't work anymore. In that case pakal it's right.

for the 3G, as far as I know, you have to put openiboot on your iphone, so that you can get into the nor (or something like that) to check if you really have a problem or not, since ibooter with libusb can't do the job for 3g.....
