Tinyumbrella question... where to ask?
Can I save shsh for an iphone which is not connected but is in the list of stored iphones? I can't test until new firmware comes out but today as I was collecting all my friends and family's iphones/pads/pods and whatnot to save shsh's I realized, when I was done, that I think I can grab new shsh saves for ALL of them without needing their devices. Am I right?
If you have the ECID you can (anything in the stored list would store the ECID), you just manually enter into TU and have it request using that ECID.
That said, iOS 5.0+ includes a random number generated at every boot as part of the SHSH request, so that makes a stored SHSH only legitimate until the phone reboots and generates the new number. Beyond that, without the actual phone, you won't have the real random number, so it could be argued that the SHSH saved with this method are actually worth less than SHSH stored with the phone plugged in.
All that is predicated on the fact that the devs don't yet know if it's possible to use the SHSH replay attack on iOS 5.x+ yet. Initial changes made by Apple mean that the standard method won't work, but it's possible that there may be a way to force-set the random number before it sends the SHSH request, thereby alleviating the concern of the random number in the first place.
