They've barely got the first-generation iPhone working with the functionality users want. Why release another bastard-child to the world!

Fix what they've got first then bring out new devices. Common sense really and as someone said earlier they wouldn't bring gen-2 out this quickly as they would loose a MASSIVE share of the current user base (Not good business, even for Apple)!

    Cheers,

A "new" iphone with 16 gig instead of 8 gig aint really gen-2. Lots of people dont need 16 gig and the people who do need it pay abit more for the extra gigs. It's the same iphone just some more memory so they wont lose a MASSIVE share of the current user base. It would be a smart move cause imo allot of peeps aint buying it cause 8gig is abit low if you wanne replace your current mp3 player and phone with 1 product

Common sense says when you got 10 million iPhone sold and had unexpected benefit why not think about selling another 10 million again and make double the benefit and keep it up.

You can't have new iPhone for every year, right?

Common sense says that a new iphone will be out 22-24 months after the release of the first iphone just ready for the iphone 1 adopters end of at&T contract.

Actually I imagine that it'll come out about 12-18 months after first sale. Keep your customers in a contract a year out...

I won't be surprised in Phone companies start offering 3 year contracts pretty soon.

3G iPhone will be available latest this summer. Especially European but also future non-US partner carriers demand 3G from Apple.
