So, I've got an iPhone4 with 4.1 and latest baseband already installed. I tried about 20 times on Mac and PC, changing certain things as I went along.

Success only happened on the PC, so here are my specs:

Windows XP SP3
iTunes 10.1 (had to update -- but didn't open once installed)
Limera1n BETA 4

1. Restored iPhone4 using iTunes and official Apple servers (not saurik's in Host file)
2. Activated iPhone (DID NOT SYNC with my backup)
3. Hooked iPhone4 while in recovery mode to PC
4. Ran Limera1n and followed ALL steps as stated
NOTE: At various times, Windows said "New device found" since new drivers were provided by iTunes 10.1
5. Saw the logo for Limera1n after exploiting
6. On power up, logo was Apple
7. Limera1n icon appeared on second page -- opened it
8. Verified Cydia install (concluded successful jailbreak)

Yes, it appears that iTunes 10.x+ is a requirement to get limera1n working.

Tested on a Windows Laptop as well as Bootcamp and VMware on a Mac.

limera1n, as with all other geohot jailbreaks, does not add the afc2 service and does not break you out of the chroot jail. You'll need to add the afc2add package from Cydia in order to access directories other than /var/mobile.

EDIT: geohot has updated limera1n to RC1 (beta5) which includes the afc2 modifications, so my above post is no longer correct.

Limera1n worked for me with iTunes 9.2

The Chronic Dev-Team has released Greenpois0n, their utility for jailbreaking the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch on iOS 4.1.

After much controversy, the tool has been updated to use the bootrom exploit found by Geohot.

Unfortunately, only a Windows version is currently available; however, a mac version and ipt2g support are coming soon.

i installed Limera1n on my iphone 4 OS 4.1 US locked and cydia too.
After that i uninstalled the limera1n via the application.
now i tryed for many times to install limera1m again (so in the future i could install limesn0w) but without success.
every time it looks like every thing is OK, evean the limera1n "drop" is apearing and the device is shoting down.
but after the boot the icon isnt on the desktop and there is no sign to sucess instalation...
i dont want to update the phone SW from itunes because i'm afraid that i wont succeed to jailbreak it again with limera1n.
please advise.

First time jailbreaked with limera1n and unlocked with ultrasn0w. Works fine for a week. Now lost service.

Restored and jailbreaked with limera1n or greenpois0n (several times) and unlocked with ultrasn0w.
Now I have Invalid SIM message...
After reseting Network Settings I have No Service message...

I tested two different micro SIM's with no luck...

Anybody help me please?

IMEI blacklisted? Hardware failure? Damaged or broken SIM contacts inside iPhone?
