    anyone have a working kext for my nvidia 8600 GT 256mb. its not working on my system. i cant enable QE/CI. also, when i try to launch aperture, it says that my video card isnt supported so i am assuming that its not properly installed. also, under my system profiler, it says my card is 512mb when its 256mb. any advice?

    Yes sirr. Do u know where i can get some? I forgot to mention that i did try the kexts from the link u provided. They did not work. It usually caused a kernel panic after the OS booted.

    I think you just need to add your efi strings and thats it, you can use osx86 tools or efi studio to get your efi strings

    By efi string you mean adding your specific device id and vendor id to the kext right? And if so, which kext am i applying this to.

    On snow leopard, you can use the nvinject 64-bit kext.
    Here's a link to some 64-bit kexts: Stell's Blog - Prepare yourself...

    If nvinject does not work, your other choice is to generate your own efi string using gfxutil (goole for that). once you have the efi string, you can insert that into the com.apple.boot.plist (in /E/E) like:

    <device-properties>
    <string> your efi string </string>
