Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Kernel Panic Mac OS version: not set
HI,
This is not a new install. I wanted to know if there was anyway to resolve an Mac OS version: not set error. The computer worked fine for months then yesterday after booting up I got a Mac OS version: not set error. I rebooted because Safari and Chrome froze. I forced the apps to quiet. Ran Onyx to clean up the computer and repaired the permission. Then when I reboot I received the kernel panic. I tried running a repair from the the disk utility, no errors were found. I used drive genius 3 for repair and no errors were found. I ran FDSK from OSX86Tools using a second drive and I still get the error. I cannot get it to boot in safe mode either. I even switched the SATA controllers from IDE to AHCI. I have a Leopard HDD that boots without issue in the same PC. I can go into the Snow Leopard drive from the Leopard drive. Everything looks fine. I also get the error if I hit F8 and chose the Snow Leopard drive from the list of hard drives.
Darwin Kernel version 10.8.0
motherboard: Commando
memory: 4GB
Graphics card: GeForce 8600 GT 512MB
HDD: 2TB (three partitions)
Intel Processor: 2.43 GHz
Any help is appreciated.
