Running at 1080p leads to portions of the desktop extending outside the monitor?
Hi guys this is my first post here and I just installed Snow Leopard (10.6.2) using a retail disk on my Asus P6T, i7 920, ATi 5770 with 8GB of RAM, this was my first attempt. Everything is good, I have hardware acceleration and I updated to 10.6.5 and I got drivers for my 5770 from Apple. However I have a problems and if any of you could take a quick look at them I would be very grateful.
The first one is a bit strange, my monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1080 and when I set OS X to run at that it is stretched horizontally (I can see the distortion) so that I miss the left and right hand sides of the desktop. I get around this by running it at 1680x1050 but the quality and desktop real-estate is just low. I run a DVI to VGA cable to a VGA to DVI adapter attached to my DVI port on the 5770. Is it because I'm not running it VGA and not DVI? Or is this a driver issue or some setting I'm unaware of.
I also only have 4GB out of my 8GB recognized? Any ideas?
