i hope someone can help me
i have successfull installed SL 10.6.2 by Hazard on my notebook and all works fine, but i have some problems to get my graphics card to work.

Its a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570.
Many people write:

The only thing you have to do is, add the device id to ATI4500Controler.kext and ATIRadeonx2000.kext and reboot.

The file ATI4500Controler.kext always contain my device id.
In system Profiler there is a wrong name listed (ATI Radeon HD 4890) but the device id is correct.

My device id is 9553 and if i do the things above, after reboot i get a screen like this...



this screen appears after the boot process, instead of the desktop. Verbose mode do not show me a panic but i know, that it is caused by the file ATIRadeonx2000.kext. So i have to boot with -x and delete this file to get my desktop back.

It does not make a sense for me. What can be wrong?
Is there any other solution?

i will be thankfully for all replys and sorry for my bad english.

P.S. RadeonHD.kext does not work.

is it a mistake by me or by the file? other people with similar graphic cards also get solved the problem. why not me?

I have a Radeon HD 5145 which is a rebranded 4570 with higher clock speeds and am looking to get mine working as well

BUMP ! Are there any workarounds of any kind? Having the exact same issue with my HD5145. I can't seem to use the VRAM.

hi i have same graphic card on my acer 5738g i installed iatkos s3 and update to 10.6.7 everything goes fine im getting native resolution but no Q/E..i used RadeonHD.kext for SL i think this is dongs radeon hd...used kexthelper to install RadeonHD.kext then repair permission and reboot...things will be fine...
