Intel SASWT4I RAID Array not being seen, JBOD seen just fine
I have been running a Hackintosh since iAtkos v4, now using v7 and love it. Never a problem and it works great with XBMC as my HTPC as well as running a couple of low usage VMs in the background since ha 8GB and a Q6000 going happily @ 3Ghz.
I have recently purchased an Intel RAID Controller SASWT4I to RAID 0 some data which is backed up online so I'm happy to run the risk of data loss, I just hook it up to a high speed connection and get my data back quickly.
When the connected SATA discs Seagate - Barracuda LP ST31500541AS drives are not part of an array/JBOD they get seen, as do the SAS drives I have connected. BTW I know u maybe thinking why are you using slow drives in RAID 0? Trying to be friendly to the environment was the original plan but now I wanted to consolidate the drives and was running out of SATA connections due to the OS being on an SSD and the Users being on another, along with the VMs.
If I create an array consisting of the two drives they do not appear in the OS at all, neither using diskutil list or ls /Volumes.
Please could someone help me. This takes me one step closer to my ideal hidden in the wall server/HTPC dream machine.
The machine is currently updated to 10.5.8 and as said runs very smoothly indeed. Other than a memory leak in Plex, which I have now stopped using and use XBMX instead, she never fails me (cursed myself now haven't I!)
Ps I hope this is the correct forum.
