Default poor openGL, streaming video, and dock animations

so i gave up on single booting the DVI port, and bought an HDMI to DVI cable, and its working PERFECTLY. onto the next problem... video performance.

streaming video SUCKS... dock animations lag if im using another app... sounds like no QE/CI, right?
well, i have QE/CI enabled, proved by adding a widget to dashboard and getting ripples. however... the ripples lag and are glitchy.
openGL sucks too. 13.80fps cinebench score.

I have spent nearly all day trying different applesmbios values... the one that seems to work best is iMac11,2. also tried different video injectors, no difference. tried drivers from 10.6.3 that were modified by someone (drivers released by nvidia shortly after 10.6.5) and those would cause my display to turn blue after the apple screen, then black, and id have black and white shapes with a live cursor.

so i reinstalled the tonymac nvidia drivers and reenabled graphicsenabler=y, and took a nap, cuz ive been working long hours and today was my first day off in almost 2 weeks.
though i HAVE noticed an increase in performance if i let the display go to sleep, then wake it back up. my guess: cuz the QE/CI has to be redrawn. why that matters, i dunno. openGL stays the same regardless.

here are my software specs, my hardware specs are in my sig.

-Mac OS X 10.6.5 installed from retail 10.6.3 purchased at the apple store, installed from NawCom Mod CD
    -Chameleon RC5 R687
-Legacy Kernel 10.5.0 for SL 10.6.5
    -SuperNForceATA
-MyHack installer (whatever the latest version was in the end of November)
    -TonyMac nVidia drivers
    -GraphicsEnabler=Y
-No other video injectors or strings.

OH... one more thing. i hardcoded my aboutthismac window to say '2.8GHz PowerPC G5 Dual'... that should be PURELY COSMETIC... correct?
    my smbios.plist is below.
any advice would be appreciated.. IM RIPPING MY HAIR OUT!!

okay, finally asked my apple buddy about my issue. he said he doesnt know a lot about the hackintosh world, but maybe, JUST MAYBE, the nForce chipset kext may be interfering with the nVidia Geforce kexts, causing a slowdown. this sounds plausible.... any thoughts?

    Hi ozziesironmanoffroad,

I'm having the same problems with my XFX GeForce GT 240 1GB GDDR5. Booting up only works with VGA or HDMI, not with DVI. DVI only works if VGA is also connected.

However, the big difference between using VGA ONLY and using DVI+VGA or HDMI ONLY is that with VGA ONLY performance seems to be okay (smooth ripples when adding widget to dashboard) while it is not okay when using DVI+VGA or HDMI ONLY (ripples skip frames).

Have you had any luck solving your performance problem?

    Kind regards,
    David

i reloaded the operating system. my windows 7 kept crashing (of course) so i figured ill do a complete reinstall of it. so i formatted both hard drives, reloaded iDeneb 10.5.8 on the former windows drive, then installed snow leopard from within leopard, applied the patches.. myhack, new bootloader, legacy_kernel, and installed my chipset driver and rebooted into snow leopard. intro video was smooth. and it streams video perfectly. however, the dock animation when i add a widget is still glitchy. though i did notice a huge visible improvement in cinebench.
stuck in 10.6.3 right now.. trying to figure out why im getting javascript errors when i try installing the 10.6.5 combo update. have tried booting from the install dvd and repairing disk, nothing. repaired permissions, nothing.
ima install WoW tonight, and if the openGL is the way it should be, then ill leave it in 10.6.3 until i have a reason to upgrade.

okay update. you all are going to laugh your @$$E$ off! i wasnt telling the bootloader to use a busratio, and the kernel wasnt autodetecting it, so it was running at 100MHz. LOL. i remembered the busratio from Leopard, and how it said 800MHz, so i decided to add 'busratio=14' to com.apple.boot.plist, as my multiplier is 14x, rebooted, and while the fps is the same, its a HUGE, NOTICEABLE increase in overall system performance, INCLUDING openGL. my smbios is reporting my bus as 800MHz and i think my hackintosh is finally fully functional.
