I was wondering if anyone has managed to get QE/CL working with an Nvidia Geforce 8500GT (i know its old) running on 10.6.3. If so, can someone please post a kext or something so that i can get it working. I've been searching everywhere but no-one seems to have had any luck. I've managed to get it working (before I had the black screen at boot issue) by using an EFI Graphics string *i think* but QE/CL have evaded me. Cover Flow in iTunes is just a black rectangle and the Preview app just shows a grey screen, but .pdf's work. :S

Are you running 10.6.3 in x86 or x64?

Yes, they still sell them
You may have to remove all old kexts for the new one to work.
EFI string is one of them, but sometimes it's not work.

For x86 there are more options, but for x64, 10.6.3, you could try the newest NVEnabler.

i've actually tried EFI String, and NVEnabler but they don't seem to work. If I remember correctly, last time I tried NVEnabler, it resulted in a blue screen at login. I heard somewhere that NVEnabler64 worked, but I've got that installed now and it's not doing anything.

What version is your NVEnabler64?

Hey, I'm not sure about the version of my NVEnabler64 but i'm pretty sure it's quite recent. I found a thread you may wan't to have a look at and see if this helps Howto create nVidia EFI string for Geforce the simple way
It's got details of how to make the 8500GT work using an EFI String, but it doesn't show how to select the HDMI output, only VGA and DVI.

I got my 8400 GS, which is in the same family board as yours, working with full QE/CI, in 10.6.3 using NVEnabler64 0.1b. So, no string for now. I need some big ropes though
The version you got may be 0.1, and it won't work in x64.

I'm gonna install the kext that you gave me, but i've got one question though, or rather two/three ; do I need to remove my old NVEnabler kext before I install it (I know the answer's probably yes but i'l ask anyhow), does it matter if i've got a custom EFI String, and will it mess up my computer (i.e. black screen, etc. because i've got important stuff in it )
