No sound after update from 10.6.3 to 10.6.7. ALC882
Hello. Been some time since I was on this forum. I recently decided to install OSX on my computer once again, to try out Logic. Been producing music in Ableton for a while, and just got curious about this Apple exclusive product.
Asus P5W DH Deluxe
4 x 1 GB Corsair PC6400 DDR2
Intel C2D E6600 @ 3 GHz (no overclock during install of OSX)
I've just installed OSX 10.6.3 on my system following the very nice instructions/boot-CD from 314TeR (Forum OSx86 - instalacja Mac OS X na PC :: Asus P5W DH Deluxe instalacja Snow Leoparda od A do Z), and it worked like a charm. Then installed the combo update, installed the post-installation package and restarted.
All is working well, except for sound.
I've browsed this forum and countless others, and there are multiple solutions... The appleHDA is broken after update, thats for sure, and now I want my sound restored. I've read about rollback of the appleHDA, and use of the woodyHDA, and then someone mentions a 882 modified kext... I'm confused. Last time I installed OSX I used voodooHDA, but was not satisfied with the sound quality. Now I want the digital out working.
I did try to rollback the appleHDA manually with kext helper, but got a kernel panic.
What I want is this: Frontpanel audio out, and the rear audio out, and digital out working.
Can someone explain how I can do this, in a step by step manner with links to the needed files/utilities?
I would be very thankful for this.
best regards from Norway.
On you Hackintosh download this file at (Post Install.zip) unzip it then drag and drop the kext files over the kextutility one at a time. Now you should have sound after you restart.
