I've ran out of idea's!!
Having a few problems with my system. I've spent hours trying to fix these last few issues but to no avail.
The specs are as follows:
Intel core duo 2 processor
Foxconn P4M8907MB-RS2H socket775 motherboard
VIA VT8237 SATA controller
2GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD4650
Realtek 8169 PCI card
VIA VT1708 HD Audio controller
I'm running Snow Leopard, but I'm going to try and install Lion and see if that helps.
The system runs so well when it works. Starts up fine, all graphics and audio work correctly.
But basically I've got 2 main problems.
One is the whole system will just lock up and freeze, (the screen will freeze but the mouse/cursor can still be moved). This seems completely random and will happen after something is pressed like an icon in the dock. The only option after this is to hold in the power button. There also is no clue (that I can see) left in the logs in console. Sometimes hours can pass without this happening then other times it can happen 3 times within 20 minutes.
The other problem is the internet dropping out, I wonder if this is connected to the first problem...
I installed OSX using iboot and multibeast easybeast and added a kext to get the graphics card working.
I am wondering if using a DSDT would help? I'm not very knowledgeable concerning DSDT's and what they do exactly!
Another thing to mention is in the system profiler my SATA harddrive is listed under a controller which has no name, which makes me think OSX isn't seeing my controller? (But would that stop it seeing the harddrive all together?)
One last thing, very rarely I've had it panic on boot and the problem (in the panic message) seemed to be with the VoodooHDA device. I've removed the AppleHDA.kext after reading some info regarding this. Doesn't seemed to have made any difference regarding the other issues.
Any idea's anyone?
