Installation success, boot fail on Dimension 4550
Hey everybody, I am fairly new to the hackintosh community, and I am learning as I go.
During the iDeneb 10.5.5 installation process, I chose the following patches.
Chipset - ICHXFixed
Kernel - Sleep
Network - Ethernet - Intel100ProVE
Fix - install all but one, didn't install the Power management
Video - Nvidia - NVKush
APPS - installed all included apps
The install goes fine, but when I boot the computer from the hdd, it shows the apple logo with the spinning wheel, and then switches to a grey screen and hangs.
I know I haven't posted my system specs, this is only because I do not have time to do so right now, for I am currently in school. I will post the specs later.
The computer I am trying to install iDeneb on is a Dell Dimension 4550.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
I had the same issue and it was the graphics card.
What error is the machine failing on?
Is it an oscpd[#] error?
Use -v when you boot (verbose mode) and get the error it stops on.
I got my dimension 4550 running with iDENEB V1.3 10.5.5. I had to replace the graphics card. What model GC do you have? Is it the GeForce4 MX420? There is additional patching that need to be added to make that card work. Can't remember where I read it. I just picked up a new video card pretty cheap.
P.S. Your ethernet may not work either but I have a fix for that with instructions.

Hey thingsithinkithink, sorry I didn't respond sooner, I just about forgot about this thread.
Yes, it is the GeForce4 MX420, and it is an oscpd[#] error.
Since I don't feel ambitious enough to try to patch iDeneb, I am just going to replace the MX420 with a GeForce FX 5500. I found on another post that someone used a GeForce 5500 in a dimension 4550, and it worked just fine.
Once I get the card and have the computer up and running, I will let you know if all is well.
