Default Greyed out Audio slider - but working audio?

    Hi all,
Just successfully installed Hazard's 10.6.6 on my quadcore PC with a USB M-Audio FastTrackPro for audio. Everything seems like its working to perfection, even with dual booting so I am very happy so far...however...

After plugging in the FastTrackPro and installing the latest driver, sound immediately worked; however the sound slider in the top right bar is greyed out and wont let me move or mute it. Also, when I press the volume on my keyboard, the little translucent box with the volume level pops up, but has the volume set to 100% and has a little mute icon over it, and also wont let me change the level.

Finally I tried changing the level in Sys Pref - > Sound. Same deal, wont let me move slider off 100%.

    Any ideas guys?

    Default

The same on my M-Audio USB Duo, you can not change volume in OSX, only on hardware knobs.
