I have a friend's Sony VGN-fw55gf Laptop with ATI Mobility HD 4650 (god-awful cheap @#$%^& chip) was working (barely only 1024x768x32) in 10.5.6 using Natit kext, but when upgraded to 10.5.8 lost graphics and can't even boot safe mode. Can someone please help me with a working kext for this horrible chip? would kill for QE or at least choice of resolutions, but at this point would even settle for 1 working resolution again as I have finished setting up machine and now can't do anything at all. The ID for this chip is 0x94801002

Can someone please help, I too have the mobility 4650 (0x94801002).

I cannot get it to work. It tried swapping the kexts & boot replacement files. But these were not for mobility, and when I changed the device id from 9498 to 9480 it totally crashes.

I have also tried the RadeonHD kext, which replaces the x2000 but that did not seem to work.

In addition, I have edited the boot.plist files which things such as screen resolutions and graphics enable etc.

I set up via Hazard 10.6.6 with ATIFramebuffer for the graphics, and it only works on the default 1024x768 which is useless considering I am used to 1920x1080 on this VAIO FW41MH.

Can anyone please please help, I have been trying this for weeks!

A simple guide with actual kexts that have actually worked on a laptop with the same graphics card, not the desktop sapphire version would be a dream!

Totally desperate for this to work!!
