I've heard that the netkas drivers work for the ATI 5870 but I installed them and System profiler still doesn't recognize my card. I cleared cache and fixed permissions too.

So, I was wondering, If I install the ATY_Init.kext and do not get any recognition in the System Profiler, does that mean that the driver set won't work?

Also, If anyone has successfully installed the drivers, and has any tips... please feel free to include them.

I forgot to mention, I am using a laptop, and netkas tried his drivers on a Mac Pro desktop. Would that make any difference if the cards are the same, but in different platforms.

Have you found anything out on the 5870.i've read that there are kexts but will only run under 32bit kernal.

My PowerColor 5870 works perfectly fine. Full 1920*1200 resolution working via DisplayPort. Haven't been bothered to try DVI or HDMI, but I don't see why it shouldn't work.
