    Default Acer Aspire 5100-5023

Hi everyone, great site. Congrats to the people behind Hackintosh.org

I have recently installed iDeneb v1.6 10.5.8 Lite Edition
    on my Acer Aspire 5100-5023

It has been around 4 days so far with the beast, but I am slowly piecing how all of this works together in this old noggin of mine.

So, I have a LAN connection and keyboard and mouse and such and that all works great.

Now this WIFI business is a strange one. I found out what type of wifi chip is in the beast and it's a broadcom BCM4311KFB

So many people had said it has this or that type within it, until I finally just opened the thing and read the chip. So, I know for sure it's a Broadcom now.

That's settled. My question is, I have installed some other drivers I think Athera and obviously had no luck. Now, when I re-insert the iDeneb disc and go through the installation of just the broadcom driver, will it replace my first choice?

If it does replace it, do I have to do anything special on boot to activate it?

Ok, onto my next boring question. Here I have an ATI card in the beast. It's a Ati Radeon Xpress 1100. iDeneb seems to only have one driver for ATI, sort of a "Jack of All Drivers" for all ATI cards. I did a little sniffing on the internet and found that there are some kernal extensions for the ATI card that I seem to have or at least in the same series as I have.

My question is, are the .kext files tied to a particular version of the system.kext? Do I have to find a kext file for my driver that matches the system kext I have?

Thanks for your help and all of the good stuff you all are doing.

    Dave
