USB Devices are not "auto-detected" when plugged in
I am running 10.5.8 on a Compaq V3000 and except for no wireless network (3945ABG) I am quite pleased!! However, with that being said, I do have one irritating issue that I don't seem able to find a resolution for.
Everytime I plug in a USB device that is not present during boot-up, I have to run the OSx utilities and "touch" the extensions folder to get them recognized. As long as I leave the device plugged in and turned on (DVD burner, scanner, external HD, label printer) everything works flawlessly, but let me disconnect it and reconnect it later and its the same process all over again!
I have checked permissions, etc.. on the extensions folders and then ran a repair permissions on the entire drive, no go...
Anyone have any idea why this is happening and how to resolve it????
Thanks!
