Unhappy System only runs when I move the mouse

    Help! NOOB here.

Installs are dog-slow unless I sit there and spin my mouse in a circle. Same for running any apps. Same problem for the following Distros:

    I have tried:
    iPC: no sound
    iDeneb: no sound
iATKOS: sound works but again plays slow unless the mouse is pushed in circles rapidly

Also in iATKOS, the voodoohda driver works for sound, but when I try an open the sound preference option, I get a Kernal crash. I have tried the other sound drivers in all distros.

Am I missing something in install, or need to install something after the fact?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    3GB RAM

    ATI Radeon HD 4200 Graphics

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Gets weirder...

Now running Hazard Snow Leopard 10.6, upgraded to 10.6.3 with the official Apple update. Install went fine, nothing broke.

Used Marvin to patch as much as I could. Restored previous working kernel prior to reboot.

No QE so far, incompatible video card. Still slow as a turd unless I move the mouse or hit the space bar.

The only BIOS changes available are date/time, password and boot order. Clamped down like you would not believe.

    No AppleTMPACPI.kext in site.

    Hi there,
Congrats for working out yourself. You'll be good hacker

From what you described, it seems that SATA controller is not AHCI.
I would check the board chipsets driver and kernel along with video driver as these things could slow down your system.
If you could post your CPU, chipsets, hdd type, kernel that would be good.

    Regards
