I have a Dell Studio Desktop 540, and have installed iPC, and other distributions, literally about 20 times.
I have only come across problem after problem. :(
The first thing I am trying to tackle is my Ethernet. I have the Realtek RTL8168C Ethernet card.
I have tried many drivers from iPC, and then I installed a perfectly clean Vanilla kernel, then tried this:
I restarted, and I couldn't get it to work. I tried setting up the internet manually, from the specs of my ipod, and that failed, too.
Soo... How can I find the correct drivers and setup for my internet?
I'm about to shoot myself in the head if I can't get this
yeah, see. the thing about drivers is u a have to use the one that matches ur hardware.
visit this thread on insanely mac and download the RTGen attatchement on the very first post. works with most realtek graphics cards. the bullet proof network that will work without a hitch is Realtek 8139.
i saw ur other post about using cpus=1, u dnt need to. ive got a quad core. no need.
ipc is a very good distro - the trick with all these distros is to ONLY install what you know u need, dnt go loading instuff like a crazy fool, thats a good way to break it.
use voodoo kernal 9.5
intel chipset driver
use the custom DSDT bootloader with the boot image.
google for VoodooHDA, that will sort ur sound.
