How do I select installation kernel

I am unable to get passed the darwin text screen. It hangs at

"Kernel Version: bla bla sunday march 20th"

I believe I have come to the conclusion that the "Mach" kernel will not work with my chipset...


I have a m2n ASUS chipset
AMD athlon X2 3800x Processor

80 GB IDE harddrive
SATA dvd drive
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT

------------------------------

I have tried the following

CPUS=1 RD=disk0 -v
CPUS=1 RD=disk0

-s
-f
-s -x

but it always hangs there...

The question is, without getting into the actual apple installer, how do I select which kernel I want to boot with.

I have the Kalyway 10.5.2 AMD distro

Any help will be appreciated!

Also I tried

kernel=sleepstep
kernel=modbin

I tried the different kernel names associated with the kalyway disk, but when I push enter, it just goes back to the screen where it says to ``Push any key or push f8``

This is a nforce mobo rite? with 570 nforce chipset?

It is an nforce chipset, but it is an AMD processor... that tut was for intel... will it still work the same?

Oh I see, just try with another distro, your using a pretty old distro, go with iPC or Ideneb, voodoo kernel should work with ya

OK new problem...

I have gotten into the installer... and started installing but now I get the error

"Installer can not install files to /volumes/mac"

I re formated the hard drive with ever option and retried every option but still thing...

any suggestions?

How did you manage to boot into the installation? did you format your HDD as Extended Journaled?

Everytime I get past one problem, a new one happens to be waiting for me right after!


I have successfully installed Mac OSX onto my hard drive, however, now during boot up, in verbose mode I get this message and it hangs:

"Unknown Sigsegv code 0"

anyone have solutions for this?
