Question Applications quitting unexpectedly (post install on a Dual boot AMD system)

I've gotten everything to work on my Averatec 2370 laptop including sound, WLAN and LAN. The only thing preventing this install from being 100% is that some of the programs quit unexpectedly when I launch them. I'm not sure if this is a application problem or if its something more general. The applications in question are iTunes (shuts down when accessing store), X11, and the DVD Player. There might be more, but those are the only ones I've found problems with so far.

for iTunes, I've tried several versions for 7.6.2 -> 8.0.1. All fail when I access the store, but the app works if I cancel the store before it completes the connection. I have checked my proxies settings per older threads, I am not running a PAC file so I don't think that's the issue. I do have some DNS entries; not sure if that is the culprit.

    From the Crash report:
    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: 0x000000000000000d, 0x0000000000000000
    Crashed Thread: 0

    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0 ...ickTimeComponents.component 0x957e6193 cos.A + 527

for the DVD player I get the following info from the Console:
    1/28/09 12:00:33 PM com.apple.launchd[91] ([0x0-0x14014].com.apple.DVDPlayer[187]) Exited abnormally: Bus error

    and the crash log reports:
    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000005

For X11, the crash report lists:
    Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV)
    Exception Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS at 0x000000002c740000

Has anyone experienced these problems and if so, what are possible fixes? I'm hoping you might be able to help Icchansan

    My specs:
    Kalyway 10.5.2, AMD DualCore Turion 64 X2 TL-50 (1.6 Ghz), MoBO: Twinhead H12FA, NVidia GeForce Go 6100 Chipset /graphics, 1GB DDR2, nVIDIA nForce 430 (MCP51) audio, Wireless RT2500 Ralink (works), LAN (Works)

Sorry, I should have mentioned that. I'm using the Kalyway 10.5.2 AMD/Intel default kernel, sleepycat kernel.

    I'm using ToH Sleep 9.2.0. Kalyway 10.5.2.
    Code:
    Macintosh:~ thomas$ uname -a
    Darwin Macintosh.local 9.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

LOL, not sure why Kalyway called it that in the customize section of the installer, in terminal i typed uname -a and it outputted: Darwin localhost 9.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.2.0: Sun Mar 2 00:11:08 SCT 2008; made by ToH:xnu-1228/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386

In my plist of the system.kext it reads:
    <key>CFBundleVersion</key>
    <string>9.2.0</string>

    Sorry for the confusion.

You have ToH kernel, try to install Voodoo Kernel, google it

Yeah, sorry about that its ToH (not sure why its called sleepycat in the installer). I was considering trying the Vanilla kernel too, is that better? What version(s) of the kernel(s) do you recommend? I'm a little intimidated with switching out kernels but I've seen the commands to load a backup kernel from the F8 prompt (so I'll google that). Is there an easy method of experimenting with different kernels like OSXtools? Also, are the AMD patchers obsolete or are those used only for Mac Update files. Thanks for working with me on this!

Voodoo kernel 9.6 fixed the itunes issue but I am still experiencing the same problem with X11 and the dvd player. Now I'm off to get the firewire and 4-in-1 card reader working. Thanks for your help icchansan!
