    Default NVInjector doesn't work with 8800 GTS

    Hi, i am using iDeneb 1.3 and Mac OS 10.5.5 on my hackintosh. Everything works except my graphics card. I downloaded NVInjector 0.2.1 and installed it using OSX86 tools's kext installer. I rebooted and all but still some videos skip frames, VLC player shows only audio on videos, no cover flow on iTunes.

    My gfx card is Nvidia Geforce880GTS 320 mb. There were some instructions to use 8800GTS with NVInjector on NVInjector's site. I have no idea what they are but i said i'll give it a try and i downloaded PlistEditor from Apple, that app was required to use 8800 GTS. It edited some Plist i think.

    Problem is i don't know how to do it or what i am doing. And PListEditor from Apple's site is only installable to 10.5.8 or later. I have 10.5.5. Can you help me use my gfx card. I tried anything i can. Please help me.

    These are my specs in case you need them to help me;

    -Intel Core2Duo e6850 3.00 GHz
    -2GB DDR-2 Ram
    -Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb
    -ASUS P5K-se motherboard
    -2 harddrives, one for storage and one dual booting vista and leopard.

    thank you for your answers.

    Hi there,
    You could try ATI ATY_init.kext for video injection. It works with many 8000/9000 series NV cards. You can dl at kexts.com. Make sure that you delete all old kexts that not working before try the new one. You can find more info at netkas.org.
    The other method is EFIStudio.
    Good luck. Let us know.

    Regards,
    ATY_init.kext didn't work. But i didn't uninstall any kexts, i tried NVInjector, NVEnabler, ATY_init etc... they are all installed i guess. I don't know how to uninstall them. I did some research and i think there's no way to do it with osx86 tools, i tried the solution the site i found offered which was a code to terminal and that didn't work either. Is there a chance that it is not working because another gfx kexts are installed? If so how do i delete the old ones?

    Hi there,
    Yes, I see you got too many kexts in there. It supposed to load only one kexts and in this case may interfere. If you previously used EFI string then it may reside in your com.apple.boot.plist and needed to be removed. Go to /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration to check your com.apple.boot.plist with a text editor, or you can post it here to see if there is injection code needed to be removed. For kexts removal, navigate to /System/Library/Extensions and remove all known kexts that you installed (most the stuff with NV precedent, and also natik.kext maybe). Then use kext helper to reinstall ATY ATI_init.kext. You also should remove extensions.mkext and clear kext caches, repair permission and reboot. Also check to see if you have similar kexts and one more com.apple.boot.plist in /Extra/Extensions and /Extra folders
    Always backup your system first before replace any system files just to be in the safe side.
    Hope this help.

    Regards,
    thank you very much for your answer. Here is a screenshot of my com.apple.boot.plist;

    if i have to delete or add any line of text to my com.apple.boot.plist please let me know what to do. other than that

    from my library/preferences/Extensions i removed "NVEnabler 64.kext" "NVInject.kext" "NVInjectGo.kext" "NVKush.kext" "NVDANV10hal.kext" "NVDANV20hal.kext" "NVDANV30hal.kext" "NVDAN40Vhal.kext" "NVDANV50hal.kext" and "NVDAResman.kext"

    i only remember installing first four of them. I deleted the others because they have NV in their names. ALso i have deleted 24 more .kext and .bundle .plugin etc... files with ATI in their names. Then i deleted extensions.mkext and now i will clear kext caches, repair permission and reboot. Then i will install ATY_init kext with kext helper and we will see. I will post after doing all these.

    Hi,
    Your com.apple.boot.plist look fine. So the EFI string never got in there.
    Did you backup your system first before that many kexts removal?

    i did all the things i said on my previous post and now VLC player still doesn't work. MY resolution went down, it is now 1024x768 which looks terrible. Everything is so big. I have no other resolution options too in my system preferences/display options. MY previous resolution was 1280x1024 i think. Coverflow still doesn't work either and everything is big and blurry.

    What to do now?

    EDIT: I deleted ATY_init and installed NVInject and it is still the same. I think i deleted the kexts i installed during the installation of ideneb, i selected NVidia during the installation and now i think i deleted them. How can i get them back. I haven't gained anything infact lost resolution. Screen looks disgusting. I forgot to backup too.

    Would i be able to install them again without reinstalling os by inserting ideneb dvd?

    Hi,
    Did you use EFI string? I wonder where you install it, and if it interfere.
    Do you use Chameleon v2 RC4 as your boot loader? Might need that to enable the kexts.
    But first, let's check your graphic card/display to see what happened.
    Go to System Profiler, under Utility, to graphic/display. On the right panel it will list your video card along with the kexts loaded, and also your display.
    If the video kexts/driver works correctly and your QE/CI enable it will say: Core image:hardware accelerated, and Quartz Extreme supported. If core image is software then the kexts is not working. Also it should pick up your display with the correct resolution.
    I am more concerned with the QE/CI function, because without it your DVD, video will be very choppy. Your resolution can be solved by an entry in com.apple.boot.plist, but that may not be necessary if you get the correct kexts loaded.
    Try that and let us know.
    If that doesn't work then you still have NVinject, and EFIStudio to go, with the same method, remove old kexts first before try the new one.
    Did you repair permission, remove extensions.mkext, clear kext caches, and reboot AFTER installing ATI ATY_init.kext? So that the system can use the new kexts.
    It's strange that the kexts doesn't work for your system though.
    Let us know

    Hi,
    You don't need to reinstall OSX as that is the last resort. On kexts.com and netkas.org there are many video kexts that you can download and try, also in that ATY ATI_int blog there is a list of known work cards. So one at a time till we figure this video out.

    Regards,
    system profiler says core image:software , quartz extreme: not supported

    this means no kexts installed. I did the clearing caches and removing extensions.mkext before installing ATY_init. So i should now delete the old kexts. Install ATY_init and clear kext caches, repair permissions and delete extensions.mkext.

    ok i will be back after doing those.

    thank you very very much for your help. i hope this works. I will post the results right after doing those.

    EDIT: Ok, i did all them. I still have no resolution choices. Stuck at this hideous display. And i checked system profiler again, core image is software, quartz extreme is not supported. But it says NVidia Geforce 8800GTS with 320 MB, i think that is an improvement. I think it didn't say geforce 8800gts before, i am not sure though. Here is a pic of it;
