USB worked on my Leopard install until I updated to 10.5.7. I used a slightly modified way of updating based on the netkas update guide.

I ran the usual "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext" deletion script before running the 10.5.7 combo update. After the update, I ran the kalyway 10.5.3 combo update kernel installer to install the modbin kernel. Then I replaced ALL the existing kext files with my backed up ones from 10.5.3. Now here is where things are different. When I went to edit the installatstartup script file with textedit, Textedit will show up on the dock and disappear instantly. I did a hard reboot and loaded up a backup Leopard install to edit that script file and then rebooted back to the updated system. Everything worked as usual except for usb devices. The thing is that the attached usb devices show up in the System Profiler under USB, but the devices are NOT mounted.

I did not use the DSDT patcher or anything like that as everything went fine in 10.5.6.

My computer uses a Pentium D processor with an ASUS p5wd2e premium mobo. I am not sure if there is any other info needed to resolve this problem of reinstalling the old USB driver.

If anyone is also facing this problem and has a solution (other than downgrading to 10.5.6, please reply.
