Hp nc6400 & kalway OSX help!
Hello All,
I am new to the forum and have a few questions. Please forgive me if I am posting in the wrong place.
Well here goes, I have an HP NC 6400 notebook and am trying to get Kalway's OSX 1.5.2 to load correctly. the spec are listed below
CPU Intel Centreno Dual 1.8 GHZ
RAM 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Hard Drive 160 GB 7200 rpm SATA
Optical Drive DVD+/-RW Multibay II SuperMulti with Double Layer
Video ATI Mobility Radeo X1300 512 MB HyperMemory
Network Card Integrated Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Controller (10/100/1000 NIC) with HP Smart Power NIC Technology
Wireless Intel 802.11a/b/g
I managed to get the OS loaded, but the machine keeps freezing. I have tried booting with the following switches (-y -x -v ) but I will either get a rainbow balloon and loose all usb mouse /keyboard function about a minute after the boot or the laptop will just freeze all together.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Did you try with another distro? kalyway is kinda old and tricky...
So you boot in OSX and can play with it for just a minute? how did you customize your installation? did you try this?

Thanks for the reply.
I have tried a few diff distros but so far kalyway seems to be the only one that doesn't bomb out during the install process. iAtkos v5i looked very promissing but couldn't get it to work. The "cpus=1" switch helped with the freezing. Now I have to figure out why the usb mouse & keyboard keep dropping. Also I am unsure how to get drivers for my WLAN and LAN cards do you know of any tuts or walkthroughs that could help with that? Thanks again

I had trouble with the Kalyway distro too.
Have a go with the iPC 10.5.6 - it worked for me after much fiddling about with the various drivers and patches, of which there are loads to choose from to match your hardware!
HP / Compaq nc6120
iPC 10.5.6, Intel Pentium M 1.73, GMA900, Broadcom 4318 WiFi, AC'97 (All working)
