HP Laptop USB Problem
I successfully installed iDeneb 1.4 on my HP Pavilion DV5 1054tx which has the following specs;
- Intel P8800 2.53ghz processor
- 3gb ddr2 ram
- Intel ich9-m motherboard chipset
- IDT 92hd72b7 on 828911b ich9 audio
- Nvidia 9600m 512m ddr2 graphics card
- Realtek 8168c Lan
I selected the following customize options at install from iDeneb 1.4;
- ACPI Kext 10.5.6
- PS2Fix Keyboard
- Audio IDT
- Chipset ICHx
- Vanilla kernel. Did not select any alternate kernel
- Battery manager
- PowerOFF_OH
- NVdarwin: 512mb
- IOUSBFamily
Initially USB worked was working including the inbuilt HP webcam, but I would get a kernel panic when trying to mound any external USB hard drive. I fixed this by downloading and running the IOUSBfamily fix from the apple development center (I suspect the fix i applied at install was messing things up...?)
Ok so now I can mount USB hard drives, but the problem is that the left side USB ports and HP webcam (which im assuming has some sort of internal USB connection) does not work, or should I say does not work 80% of the time and decides to work some of the time.
Why would this be occurring, should I be trying to boot with -f to force the cache to be re written, or is there another problem. It seems to me, that if possible the solution would be to combine the apple IOUSBfamily with some of the modified kexts from installation, although I need assistance if this is the solution.
Please let me know if you would like any logs e.t.c I have USB prober if that is of any use...
Thanks in advance for your assistance

I have the very same problems with my hp dv7 laptop. Could you please tell me how you (almost) fixed? Where's the IOUSB fix you were referring?
Thank you!

You can download the IOUSBfamily.kext for 10.5.6 from the Apple developer site.....i simply downloaded this, ran the package, which required a restart and can now mount USB HDD, but still have the problemes listed below.......
