Default Geforce 6200AGP: no 3d acceleration OS X Leopard 10.5.8

Decided to buy a new video card on newegg.. got it for like 40 bucks. bought a Geforce 6200 AGP 256MB. System recognized it right away... in safe mode. I had to add the device ID to the NV kexts in S/L/E for it to boot up normally. I have full control over refresh rates, resolutions, colors, etc. I just have NO QE/CI. I also have no 3d acceleration.
I tried using EFI Studio, and added the lines manually to com.apple.boot.plist, and repaired permissions, but still nothing. I will say that the display looks a little better with the Geforce over the ATI All in Wonder, though.

What am I missing here? I know its gotta be something extremely easy and stupid. I have EVERYTHING working perfectly except 3d acceleration. I cannot even watch DVDs; it gives me the error that it cannot find a playback device.

please dont say search because I was up until midnight last night searching and trying stuff, and I woke up at 430 this morning searching for the solution; all im finding is a bunch of 'does this work, make me an installation file' crap remarks, but NO solutions. only "solutions" are now 'outdated'... Titan.

ANY help at all would be appreciated!!! PLease!!!

Without QE/CI, there will be lots of feature missing from your OSX.

For your video card, it would be hard to find kext for it.

It would be hard? Why's that? It's on the supported hardware list.
And i discovered that I had previously removed the geforce driver packages that were installed, the open gl drivers etc, so I reinstalled them, fixed permissions, and rebooted. Now it boots to a black screen with a live cursor. I can boot in safe mode though no problem. I KNOW there's something I overlooked, something minor, I just can't figure it out. Tonight when I get off work, if i can't figure it out, I'll remove the drivers again, and reload em one by one. If that don't work ill do a -v.

As for being hard, what do you mean? Please explain.

If you don't think it's hard then that is very good to know.

Most of the kexts are for different hardware interface/bus so compatibility may be an issue. I would need to look into that to confirm, but if you can get it to work then it's a well done job.

Hey, i didn't mean to sound like a knowitall, I'm just asking for help. I selected this card due to the wikiosx86 hardware compatibility list. It lists as geforce 6200 agp 256mb. Is Titan still being used?

Again, I really appreciate the help!

You're welcome, but I haven't do anything yet.
From what it said you'll will need those apple kexts along with an injection to make it switch from AGP bus to PCI bus interface to enable QE/CI.
And I think you got it.

those apple kexts? you mean the ones that are preinstalled? i deleted them again and it came right up. so i made a copy of 'Geforce.kext' and 'geforce7xxxGLDriver.bundle' and changed the name to 'geforce6xxxGLDriver.bundle' and changed the name to 6 in every reference in the GL driver pack. no difference, still no openGL, no QE/CI, but i DID notice a slight difference in profiler. 'Rotation' is now supported. So I think I might be on the right track.

Should I just delete every Geforce driver from the S/L/E folder, along with the injectors, and install a single injector?

From what it said, you'll need:

    1. "Native Apple Geforce and NVIDA Kexts". Which mean those preinstalled kexts without any modification.
    2. OSX86 Tools string injection, which with this utility you could inject string to .Boot.plist.

As for it to be effective then you should delete all other injections, all other optional kexts that were installed ie NVkush, NVenabler etc.

If it still have problem you could also delete all ATI kexts as some of them could interfere.
And then use kext utility to repair permission, clear cache etc.

Ok, i will try that when i get home today. Last night I tried the macvidia drivers, and they hosed my system. What I don't get is why the card is recognized by the os, yet I have no 3D acceleration. I don't even care about qe/ci, I just want to be able to load up games, edit video, and watch DVDs. Thinkin of sending the card back and getting a 7 series, as the 7 already has preloaded kexts, plus the appropriate OpenGL drivers.

    QE/CI = 3DAccel = DVD/video/games

That was why I said it would not be easy.
    Quite some works to do.
