Skippy - any ideea if it is possible to obtain 5.1 sound using my Asus p5l 1394 mb with the alc 883 ? at this point, using the drivers from the other forum, I get only stereo..... The mb have on the back only 3 connectors, and an optical out ..

That would require a custom kext. I'll try to put one together for you today and post it here.
