    Default AMD w/ nForce4 Chipset

Does anyone know which distro will install and boot with an AMD processor and the Nforce4 (MCP51) chipset?

I've tried a bunch of different ones but maybe I'm missing something somewhere.

theres a few that will boot but you must using boot commands i havent found one that u dont need them

    try ideneb 10.5.1 torrent
or snow leopard by hazard torrent
or iatokos 5i or7i more luck with 5i

    try using ( -v -x -f platform=ACPI idlehalt=0 )

i use this when i boot leopard disc on my laptop which is a v6000

I'll try the distro's you listed, I've already got about 9 different versions that just won't cut it so far on this laptop. I'll also try your advice on the boot commands, I thank you so much for your reply.

Also, are you saying that Snow Leopard will or might work on this laptop?

Well Snow Leopard by Hazard is a no-go. I keep getting that dreaded "firewire gui invalid" message, the disk won't boot to the install option. And I see where it says something about the AppleNforceATA not detecting any drives.

About the only distro I get to boot to the install process is the iDeneb version which is iDeneb v1.5.1 - 10.5.7 and seems like it's a patched PPF version or something like that.

It installs but just never allows me to finish the install by booting back up once it says the install was successful. If I knew how to open up that ISO and remove the FireWire kext or whatever, then maybe I could get past the GUI ID problem with the other distros.

I am going to reinstall the version listed above and try the codes you listed to see if that gets me in the door or not this time. I assume that with the platform and idlehalt that I don't have to put the - in front of them, right?

Anyone interested, do a search for my username and you'll turn up another thread about this same laptop.
