iPhone 3G with iOS4.0.1
I hope this isn't a duplicate thread. I have an iPhone 3G with the ear piece broken. I have been using it as an iTouch. Last night when i was updating iTunes it also updated my iPhone to iOS4.0.1. When the device powers on I only get the emergency call screen. How can I use the device like I had been before the update. Any help is much appreciated
Downgrade to at least 4.0.2 and use redsn0w beta to jailbreak.

The contract sim card is used with another iphone so this phone is not activated
the only access is the emergency screen and a request to add the appropriate SIM via itunes
I would like to jailbreak and unlock this phone to use with another SIM
Can you please advise if there is a JB and UL Source
A number of paid services seem to be available thro the Internet but they may not be valid?
Never pay for an unlock.. They will always be free. Once the unlock works, consider purchasing the very useful program Signal.app from Cydia - that was developed by one of the iPhone dev team members (planetbeing) who worked on the unlock for iPhone 4 as well as playing a key role in jailbreaks of recent iOS versions. Buying signal.app from Cydia is a way of saying thanks and encourages him to keep working on jailbreak and unlocks.

You need to use the contract SIM card (or similar) to first get past the "slide for emergency" screen
