hey there I've got iphone 4 but my version is 4.0.2 is there anyone one can help to jailbreak my iphone 4 and unlocked it by guide me step by step and for example like there is pro called tinyumbrella i want to be explained from where i can get it and what i can do with it also from where i can download the 4.0.1 version i decide to downgrade and that what i was going to do but someone recommend me not do it couz it will crush my later

No, it's not possible to do quite yet. However there has been recent recent news about a new userland jailbreak for 4.1 and a bootrom exploit that will allow the iPhone to be jailbroken no matter what Apple does to update it. These probably won't be available for a couple weeks or so.

The exploit discussed in the news is not a userland jailbreak, it is some sort of bootrom exploit - whether it is tethered or untethered and whether it requires an iBoot exploit as a load vector is not known yet.

If this does not require an iBoot exploit, then it might be released for 4.1

However - realise the breakthrough was made in the past 24 hours, it will take at least one or two weeks to turn that into a stable working jailbreak.

With a 4.2 being scheduled as the unification point between all iOS devices, I would expect that it could be quite likely that no jailbreak is released until 4.2 is out.. There are few remaining exploits and it makes sense to release them when they have the most impact.

The Firmware Umbrella

Use TinyUmbrella NOW to save your 4.0.2 SHSH, there are guides but as TinyUmbrella gets new features or is redesigned to make it simpler, the guides don't get updated.

Here are simple instructions.

1. Download TinyUmbrella from site above and extract it (unzip on windows or open dmg and copy to Applications folder on OS X)
2. Plug iPhone in via USB, if iTunes opens - close it and check that it has fully closed (with task monitor or activity viewer)
3. Run TinyUmbrella, on the first launch it will ask to use admin rights, let it. It should detect your iPhone.
4. Click on save my SHSH
5. Read the log information to verify that your 4.0.2 SHSH was retrieved from Apple, saved locally and registered with Cydia

Please read the thread you are responding to before blindly responding. If you cannot downgrade to 4.0.1 then there simply is no solution at the moment to jailbreak and unlock your iPhone.

well, i have jailbreaked my iphone4 using jailbreakme, it do works, the thing is you have to Update your iPhone 4 on the latest iOS 4.0.1 firmware with iTunes.

This is not current information -- you cannot upgrade to 4.0.1 any more without an SHSH, Apple is only signing 4.1. Do NOT upgrade to 4.1 if you want a jailbreak or unlock, there is no current jailbreak and it's possible there will never be an unlock for that baseband.

If you missed getting an SHSH on file for 4.0 or 4.0.1, you are presently in the 'not jailbreakable on iOS 4.0' category. Sad but true.
