Default Can't upgrade firmware 05.14.02 on the 3G-Verbose boot=no Dfu??

    hi guys,

    (iphone 3G ios 4.01 Baseband 05.14.02)

i'm new to this original forum and this's my first post, the problem is that i'm running jailbroken ios 4.01 on iphone 3g with VERBOSE boot, and since i'm using the verbose boot the dfu mode is a complete impossibility!! i did search(deeply) i used the dfu.exe commandline utility...i read almost all dfu guides on the net, even the restore mode is forbiden,Noway to enter dfu mode.

i've downloaded the last redsnow R5 toupgrade firmware from 5.14.02 to the ipad's one to access the unlock situation....but the dfu is impossible to do.
    here i'm wondering:

-can i solve the problem by an itune restore/upgrade to 4.2.1 ?
-how the return back to normal bootmode in order to witch to dfu ?
-once the dfu done...is it possible to unlock basebad 05.14.02 by directly upgrading only the firmware to the ipad's one ?

    (using windows xp/vista64/opensuse11.3)

thanks to anyone posting or trying to help.

The only way that DFU mode is difficult/impossible is if your home or power buttons are broken (or your iPhone can't detect power via the dock connector). Or that there is something wrong with your USB cable, USB ports, driver or apple mobile device drivers.

DFU mode is a hardware mode, it can't be disabled by a software tweak like verbose boot.

If your home and power buttons work, try to enter DFU mode with the iPhone plugged into an Apple wall charger - once you think you are in DFU mode, move the iPhone back to your computer and see what device manager reports. If you still can't make it work, try a different computer and original Apple USB cable.
