Redsn0w 3.1.3 Ipod 2g jailbreak problems
Hi All
Im trying to jailbreak my iPod 2nd Gen touch, MB version using redsn0w 0.9.4.
However the problem is that every time I go to jailbreak, it goes through & seems to work on RedSn0w but my ipod stay's black screen. When I reboot it just goes back to normal, no cydia. If i sync with iTunes while the iPod is on black screen it says in in restore mode & wants to do a restore.
Ive noticed that when I go through the jailbreak process on RedSn0w, i select a 3.1.2 firmware (which i downloaded, as I dont have a version myself as I never upgraded since 3.0) it says that it requires a tethered reboot when I powercycle my iPod.
Which I thought it could do un-tethered jailbreaks?? Guess im wrong?
That's ok, but once ive clicked next it only says 2 options:-
Install Cydia
Just boot Tethered
Where as on the guide it gives a few options for custom logo's, verbose boot etc...
Im running windows 7 but ive set redsn0w to admin & set compatability to Win Xp SP3.
Please help as im getting no-where & im sick of restoring
Thanks
Danxx

Try redsn0w 0.9.2, redsn0w 0.9.4 is only for MC model number 2nd generation iPod touches. As you have a MB model number then you should not use 0.9.4

Hi,
Ive just tried to jailbreak using RedSn0w 0.9.2 however its still doing the same thing. Everything goes through ok in RedSn0w however my iPod screen stays black for ages, eventually I either have to do a restore in iTunes or just restart the iPod then it goes back to normal, no jailbreak.
Not sure if im doing anything wrong here or what, but ive followed the guide to JB with Redsn0w to the letter...
I noticed also that RedSn0w says put it into recovery mode, however if i remember correctly when i JB 3.0 I had to go into DFU? Is this correct with it being 3.1.3?
Help
Thanks

I gave you incorrect information before. I just double checked this and redsn0w 0.9.4 is for 2G iPod touches that do not have MC model number.
So you should be using resn0w 0.9.4 and yes you are right, you need to be in DFU mode. That will work for OS 3.1.3 and iPod Touch 2G (non MC)
See Dev-Team Blog - 3.1.3 and thee for confirmation directly from the devteam.
I apologise for misleading you before.

hi.
i also have a problem in jailbreaking my ipod touch. When it gets to dfu it enters first stage then reboots then 2nd stage and reboots again and then the 3rd stage then it's done. I don't see ramdisk uploading. After I click 'finish' it does not reboot automatically. I waited for almost 30 min then manually booted ipod. I don't see cydia icon. pls help. I have ipod touch 2g with firmware 3.0. I have used redsnow 0.7.1, 0.7.2 then 0.9.2. still the same result

It doesn't unlock the phone It can jailbreak 3.1.3 firmware
I've already tested it success.but Let me suggest this
3.13 isn't have more feature than 3.1.2 and It just
challenging the hackers to try to jailbreak and unlock.
now apple is over by spritjb.com.
