Trying to fix a very sick ipod touch
Hello! New user here.
I picked up an ipod touch 16GB 2nd gen off ebay which is in a pretty bad state. It turns on in restore mode, but I can't get it to restore for love or money. I've been trying loads of different things so sadly can't give a complete history. I suspect it is a hardware thing (water damage?) and is irreparable, but thought I would have one last try here :)
Of the 36 restore logs in the folder, the breakdown of error numbers is as follows:
Error 9: 2
Error 14: 3
Error 20: 5
Error 21: 4
Error 1603: 2
Error 1604: 3
Error 2009: 7
Error 3194: 7
(which makes 33 as 3 of them didn't finish, probably force quit or something). I pasted the latest log (error 2009) at this pastebin link
I've tried restoring to 2.1.1, 2.2.1, 2.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2.1, which probably explains the downgrading errors. I have only tested on one PC and with a rather chewed up USB cable. I also eventually managed to get irecovery working on a friends linux box and can open a shell, but not sure what to use it for (log at this pastebin link )
Finally, the screen often becomes very distorted after a few minutes of being connected, as in this photo

The presence of lines like "unable to open device_map.txt: No such file or directory" suggest a complete replacement of the firmware files would be good, but so far I haven't found a way.
Cheers
