After jailbreaking, the multitasking bar appears, and i can use the "media player" controls, but when i tap to open an app my ipod is sent to the lock screen. any idea's on why this is happening and/or how to fix?

After jailbreaking, the multitasking bar appears, and i can use the "media player" controls, but when i tap to open an app my ipod is sent to the lock screen. any idea's on why this is happening and/or how to fix?
This same thing is happening on my iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2.1, redsn0w 0.9.6b4 (phone locks when trying to switch apps from the multitasking bar).
