I've had my iPod Touch for about 1 and half year which was working fine without being jailbroken and i have jailbroken it at but last week it went in to a recovery loop with error 40.

The log is indicating trouble communicating with the NAND chip. This is usually a hardware error. I know the immediate reaction is 'this was working last week', but ultimately, there's always one day that it was working before it stops... Bring it in to Apple and have them look.

Depends on whether the phone is covered under warranty or AppleCare. If not, they'll probably charge you for it.

I have the same problem, i havent before jailbreak and its still in recovery mode, but when i try to jailbreak or other solutions in comand prompt i got always:
[FTL:MSG] YAFTL Register [ok]
yaFTL: :read CXTInfo <1:971> wrong version of CXT expected CX01
yaFTL: :YAFTL_Open <1:2878>: YAFTL_OPEN unsupported low-level format version cannot continue
[WM:ERR] FTL_Open failed
WMR_BEEP
Raw NAND FTL failed initialisation
this is problem with hardware? what mean that CXT have wrong version?
