I have an ipod touch 3G with the 4.0 firmware, and I've been searching the web a lot, but can't really find the answer I'm looking for, so, how do you jailbreak it?

Or isn't it possible ? - please do NOT refer me to google, since I know how to use it and DID use it, and could NOT find a proper answer.


the firmware file installed is:
iPod3,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw

I used "redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-4" for this task and it did a good job. Just google for it, easy as pie. It seems to be not working with "MC"-models of ipod touch. So better check this before doing anything.

Anyway i'm flashing back to 3.1.3 as 4.0 is really slowing down everything.

hi mmate there no jailbreak out yet shhould be one out soon ther is only 1 out for the ipod touch 2g non mc models and i think iphone 3g non mc

When I use my current ipsw
iPod3,1_4.0_8A293_Restore.ipsw
with redsn0w_0.9.5b5-5, it just tells me it doesn't recognize the ipsw file..

go on your ipod than go to browser and go to jailbreakme.com , wait for it to load and slide to hack simple as that xD works with ALL ios'z

Correct, also just to be clear - if you read the readme - redsn0w 0.9.5-b5 does not work on iPod touch 3G or iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4.

jailbreakme.com works fine on all devices.
