Hey! I'm new to this forum, and i need your guys help!! I want to jailbreak my Ipod touch 2G with IOS 4.2.1 MC model! i tryed to use redsn0w 0.9.6b4, but it doesn't support MC models for 2G yet!!! do i need to wait for a new version or is it out already???

0.9.6b4, b5 or b6 should work. Are you sure you have the correct redsn0w version and original IPSW downloaded directly from Apple? This will be limited to a tethered jailbreak though. If you want to untether, you should instead use the latest greenpois0n to jailbreak.

Unethered is the best type of jailbreak, it means you can reboot a jailbroken iPod Touch and it will start up normally.

A tethered jailbreak, you need to connect your iPod touch to a computer and run a simple program to "help" the device reboot.

If you're on iOS 4.2.1, you can downgrade to 4.0 and use jailbreakme.com
directly from your ipod device to JB.



JB via greenposion staying @ iOS 4.2.1.

Now, there are some minor differences I've noticed with the above
2 JB's. W/greenposion, the tweak frpom Cydia "makeitmine" doesn't
seem to work - where you can name your iPod but custom boot logos
will on 4.2.1.

Either stay with 3.1.2 or run 4.1 (don't bother with 4.0.x). 4.2.1 is limited to a tethered jailbreak (unless you have the 4.2 beta SHSH and can use the redsn0w jailbreak monte technique)

Use greenpois0n to jailbreak 4.1

Things changed, an untether exploit was developed and released for 4.2.1 - it debuted in greenpois0n (but is now also used in other jailbreak tools)
