Angry iPod suddenly recognized as new... help wanted...

    Hi,
So now, I hope this is the right place to put this. I have a jailbroken iPod touch 2g, originally redsn0wed on 2.2.1, then upgraded to 3.1.3 via sn0wbreeze (basically Pwnage tool for windows), in case this matters, and I run windows XP SP3. Once, when I tried syncing, it gave me a few errors, like "The iPod could not be synced. The required file was not found", or "the required disk was not found", and other messages similar to these. I looked at a few forums, which told me to do some things, including looking for an Apple Mobile device driver (or something like that) update in the device manager. After a while, my iPod suddenly came up, and said "an ipod has previously been synced with this computer", with the option of restoring to backup or setting up as a new device. As restoring to backup would delete all the changes I had made to notes, etc., since my last sync and remove my jailbreak (at least I think), I chose to set it up as a new iPod. It was not in recovery or DFU mode. However, I had to put all the settings back (e.g. which apps I have to install, etc.). I first synced without that, and it worked. Then, however, when I set the sync options with the apps, and clicked apply, I got the error "The iPod cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found.", then "The iPod cannot be synced. A folder was specified instead of a file". Then I had the same problem as before: it said "an ipod has been previously synced with this computer". Any help? Because I am getting really pissed.
    Thanks

Could be a number of things.

Firstly, your iTunes library might not be able to find some items in the filesystem. Sounds like that is some of your purchased Apps.

Try syncing one type of content at a time - see if that works. For example syncing only music or only apps.

Also.. just to be 100% clear - sn0wbreeze is not endorsed or supported here on this forum. It is an unauthorised clone of pwnagetool and the author is not reliable.

OK, sorry about the Sn0wbreeze thing. So are you suggesting that it is illegal, or that it is just not a good idea to use (it did work flawlessly for me)? And, another question to that, what should I use for that purpose on windows?
Thanks for the advice btw. Trying that, it seemed to get stuck somewhere on the applications. I then tried clearing my temporary files, and checked my drivers in the device manager (not as it is, but the one with everything listed, which is only accessible from the command prompt), and noticed that there were 5 or 6 drivers for the device. I got rid of everything except for the latest, set my iPod up as a new iPod, and. it. FINALLY. worked. Thanks for your help.

Sn0wbreeze did some illegal things in the first versions - this has long since been fixed. The beta versions also screwed up quite a few tester's iPhones. The author also has been on occasion dishonest and has demonstrated that he can't be trusted. This is why the decision was made to not support his tools. They generally work fine and he is often faster out with support for new iOS versions. For iOS 4.0 he got this advantage by paying other more experienced hackers to get access to their tools for decrypting new IPSWs

Glad you fixed your problem though.
