    Default GNU/Linux port progress?

    Beyond the jailbreak...
Is there much happening on the "port to Linux" front these days?

    If so...
Where does one can go to actively follow/participate in this progress?

    Cheers,
    Jed

according to #iphonelinux it's more or less stalled...

[04. 10. 2009 16:29] <Philantrop> Sorry, this must be a very FAQ (or maybe not since I've waited for it being asked since I joined ) here but since iphonelinux.org is currently unreachable: Is the project progressing (I've only toyed with the demo so far), currently stalled or even dead (which would be a shame)? And is there anything a somewhat decent distro developer (with a long time of Linux experience) could do to help?
[04. 10. 2009 21:26] <ius> Philantrop: Stalled, at least. planetbeing has been responsible for nearly all code so far (bootloader, kernel basics), but he's been rather occupied, I think
[04. 10. 2009 21:30] <Philantrop> ius: Ah, I see. That's sad to hear but priorities unfortunately sometimes (have to) shift. Meanwhile, I saw some comparedly recent (albeit minor) code changes on github so I shall keep some hope and maybe look into tings a bit deeper myself. Thanks for the information!
[04. 10. 2009 21:31] <Philantrop> Is there, btw, some working mirror of iphonelinux.org I might simply not be aware of?
[04. 10. 2009 21:31] <ius> Someone else (Hector Martin if I recall correctly?) has comitted some code to openiboot a while ago indeed, but that seems to be everything
[04. 10. 2009 21:32] <ius> Hm it's down again I see. I don't know who's running it, I did notice it going down and later back up again a while ago
[04. 10. 2009 21:32] <Philantrop> ius: If Hector was also known by "marcan", that would be precisely correct from what I saw.
    [04. 10. 2009 21:33] <ius> That's him I think
[04. 10. 2009 21:33] <Philantrop> ius: Yes, indeed, using the IP directly, one gets to a fresh Apache installation by some webhoster only.
    [04. 10. 2009 21:33] <ius> Ah, hmm
[04. 10. 2009 21:38] <ius> What the project needs is an 1. avid reverser with 2. embedded experience and 3. the ability or means to turn it into proper linux kernel drivers. planetbeing qualifies for #1 and #2 (and #3 to a certain extent). Noone else has stepped up, and I personally only qualify for #1
[04. 10. 2009 21:41] <Philantrop> ius: Well, same for 1., some experience with 2. but hardly any experience with 3. here which is undoubtedly a major problem. I guess the website having been down for quite a while now doesn't instill confidence into people who might otherwise be qualified *and* interested. So, personally, I'd get the website up again and post a plea for help there. But that's just me.
[04. 10. 2009 21:45] <ius> Might be an idea. planetbeing is hard to catch I think
    [04. 10. 2009 21:45] <ius> planetbeing: *hilight*
