Unhappy Downgrading problem, please help me :(

Hi guys! I have a problem...never happend before. I upgraded from 3.1.3 to 4.2.1 yesterday and I tried to get my iPod a brand new jb. My power button is broken, not working and I searched some solutions that wouldn't involve the DFU mode. The only way was JailbrakeMe, but i had to downgrade to 4.0. Well, I did the downgrade, I have done this before, but of course, with other firmware, but this time, after i followed all the steps, it's stuck with apple logo and the empty bar above it, like that one on the restore. What can I do? I have to remind that the DFU mode is not working, because my power button is not working What options I have? The device is not jb. Thank you very much and please help me with this one

I'm not 100% sure with itouch models so ....
for the itouch 2G, is your device model number has MC in front of it (check the box) ?
Also, the itouch 2G restore will require SHSH for firmware 4.0 and above.
Without SHSH, you will not be able to restore and your only option is restore back to 3.x.x

Can you be a bit clearer about what step the whole thing failed with.. Did it fail on restore of the 4.0 IPSW or during the jailbreakme?

If power button is broken you can still enter recovery mode. For most uses (except jailbreaking), this is as good as DFU mode.

It isn't very hard or expensive to get a 3rd party repairer to fix your power button.

You can downgrade without DFU mode. Recovery mode allows downgrade. http://www.hackint0sh.org/f127/53930.htm It's just the jailbreaking that normally requires DFU mode.

You need a SHSH for 4.0 also.. you can't restore to any iOS 4.x version without a SHSH saved. You haven't confirmed if you have this (you would have needed to have saved this before 9 September 2010)

The only 4.x version that Apple signs SHSH restores for is the latest one 4.2.1 (and for the 2G iPod touch, maybe 4.1)
