DevTeam Wifi fix on 2g MC

Hey folks, first post here, hoping someone might help.

I'm trying to fix the greyed wifi issue on my 2g iPod touch MC version. It's kind of a long story but someone updated to iOS 4.2.1 and now my wifi is greyed. I'm pretty sure its not a hardware issue, tried the low battery and freezer fixes to no avail.

I originally jail broke it with greenpois0n on a Mac but didn't have Cydia because gp just adds an installer and no wifi means no Cydia. So after fucking around quite a bit I ended up using sn0wbreeze on a PC which was handy because it installed Cydia and SSh and some other handy stuff.

What I do is download .deb files and transfer them to the Cydia auto install folder with iphonebrowser or a Mac equivalent. I've got bootneuter and terminal setup, but here comes the first problem. Bootneuter closes and says it can't talk to the bootloader, possibly due to a commcenter collision (unloading commcenter as described in the swif insert tins doesn't help, I've also tried turning off auto lock as was suggested).

I tried to chmod swifi and kill the commcenter and proceed as if fake blanking went okay and I get this error;
Wifi fixer blah blah etch....
/dev/TTY.debug: no such file or directory
Debug port no opened
can't write
Error 0xffffffff

So I'm stuck, any help would be greatly appreciated. If anyone knows how I can get in touch with MuscleNerd or can point me in his direction I'm surf he's busy but I'd love his help. Any info o n any of is would be awesome

The dev team wifi fixer is not designed for the iPod touch. Don't try it, you could damage your iPod touch beyond repair (most likely though it will simply NOT work)

Publish on pastebin a syslog of your iPod touch and I might be able to help you troubleshoot the problem.

I'm not sure what Pastebin is, I looked into it but it didn't make much sense, hopefully it will be sufficient for me to just put my syslog here.

I though about unloading and reloading mDNSResponder w.launchctl but haven't tried that yet, these also n mDNSResponderHelper.....?

Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! or New - Pastie - these are sites where you can upload a long text based document (like a crash dump or a log file). You get a simply, short web address that you can put in your reply here at hackint0sh.

That means I can see the *whole* syslog (of your phone restarting) and try and see what your problem is.

Relying on you to "guess" which bits of the syslog might be relevant is a waste of time for both of us.

Have you tried downgrading again to an older iOS version to see if wifi works then?

What about before you jailbroke, did the wifi work then?

What version of SSH do you have installed?
Also what version of mobilesubstrate?

You should be able to find this out via Cydia...

It's looking hardware related to me right now... but we need to rule out various software causes first.

I haven't tried downgradiNg the firmware, I understand this would require me downloading an older version of iTunes? I'll look into it.

The wifi problem existed before jailbreak, wifi worked fine on 3.1.3 it's been broken since it's been updated to 4.2.1. I'll look into my Cydia stuff and give you mo info within the next hour.
