    2g old or new bootrom?

If old bootrom. Downgrade to 3.1.2 and jailbreak with blackra1n. Then load pwnagetool custom IPSW (either 3.1.2 or 3.1.3)

See Bootrom - The iPhone Wiki for details on how to find this.

The whole point of the procedure I linked to is to allow you to find out the iBoot version that is hardcoded into your phone.
