I currently have a few ipod touches that do not have wi-fi (it's greyed out) Everything else works fine. Any ideas? I've tried restoring but it just doesnt seem to work. I'm guessing its a software problem but anyway, here's a screenshot of what it looks like.

It is the first gen touch.

when you restored it did you restore from a backup?
if you did then try setting up a new ipod then upgrade it to the latest software
if that doesn't work then it's a definite hardware problem :S

Wow thats very odd... even a restore to 2.2 doesn't work? Are in range of any hot spots or access points? It def sounds like a hardware problem... but I'm confused as to how you have a FEW of them like this...

don't know if your still having this problem or if you found a fix but i also had this problem, it took me 9 hours and about 20 restores to finally figure it out but in the end i'll keep it simple, what you need is fw 1.4, downgrade to this then use ziphone to fix (not jailbreak) just use the fix as it appears it is ziphone that can cause this problem then upgrade back to your current fw and hopefully this should work, there are lots of help out there if you need more infomation it just takes sometime googling it
