With most iPods, you can reset them and plug them into any Mac or PC with iTunes to get the software downloaded and installed.

How will this work with the touch? If I buy a touch now, it has extra software included that is not on older touches (unless you buy it). How will iTunes know that the iPod it is reloading is entitled to the newer software? What will happen when 1.1.4 comes out? Will there be one version for people who didn't pay the $20 and another version for those who did?

exactly right f apple... it is ridicilous that you have to buy an update which should be supplied free... by this move, apple is creating seperation between new and old (early adapters aka milking cows) customers. apple already started project milking cow long time ago, but became more and more obvious with iphone and now itouch... seriously f u apple, u r no better than m$... long live jailbreak and long live community...

I am one of thousands out there who are really thankful for what guys like devteam ect are doing, but never thought about donating money to this people ...
But now where apple starts to get a "realy big one", including making money whatever it takes .... Yes i decided to donate .. the first time in my life. I could pay 20 bucs to get 5 usfull apps from apple ... or i can donate, whatever i think its worth for me to get much more than only 5 apps ....

I am .. or I was such a big apple fan for years....I get much people in my circle of friends to buy apple products because i was such glowing.

But as they started the ipod thing and making really much money, they begann to give a shit about people like us, peolpe how dont just use things as they are expected to, or people how dont think like : "Ohh .. its ok that my device is broken again...i will buy a new one" !

I dont like the belief in an applesoft company ... its not the applefeeling anymore
but, unfortunatly ... succsess will push them into that

Not really anymore, since they've decided to keep the 1.1.3 jailbreak all to themselves for another month...

On top of all that, those other 5 apps have been on the touch sense 1.1.1 but springboard hid them.
