Question Unexplained instability after jailbreak & App folder move

After hacking my iPod Touch initially, I was finding it increasingly unstable (app crashes etc), as well as running low on disc space in the Applications partition. So I used the terminal hack to move the Applications folder to the Media partition and link to it with the Symlink. That seemed to work ok for a while, but the old instability returned can anyone comment on this? Unsure if it's the method I'm using or an app specifically.

    If you have summerboard installed.
check if the dimmed background option in SMBprefs is disabled.
