There are plenty of apps that do this. There are also existing threads that discuss the same thing.

Just don't pay for an app to do this, there are enough free apps that can do what you want.

Not correct - apple's software does not allow transfer of music from the iPod back to computer (except when you purchased the music directly on the iPod)

    Ok, heres how to:
Step 1: Download CopyTrans http://copytrans.net/ [moderator edit: remove hyperlink, note this software is not free]
Step 2: Open it up once you have installed it.
Step 3: Click on the first option which should be "CopyTrans"
Step 4: A window should pop up, and click "Use CopyTrans"
    Step 5: Connect your iDevice
Step 6: Select the songs you would like
Step 7: Click "Start Backup" at the top
Step 8: There you go! They are in iTunes, but also on your computer. To find them go to your "Music" folder on your computer, click on the folder labeled "iTunes" then "iTunes Media" then "Music" and then you have found them and can do whatever you want with them.
